I have over 16 years' experience in a design studio environment as a graphic designer for print, web and social media platforms. I have extensive experience of work within magazine publishing, with over 10 years in a senior position. My work has involved creating templates, re-designs and freestyle creations based on briefs from an editorial team.
I currently work as a member of a flexible design studio team for a publishing company, working across a number of B2C and B2B titles, which include Health & Wellbeing, Teach Primary, Teach Early Years, Healthy Diet, Natural Health, Let's Knit, Soul & Spirit and Grow Your Own magazines.
I've previously worked for another publishing company and been responsible for women's hair titles Blackhair, Hair, Hairstyles Only and Perfect Hair & Nails. In 2012, I was solely responsible for a complete re-design and launch of Hair Now magazine, sold internationally.
I have designed promotional and point of sale work for a range of clients in my career, including big brands and names such as Roald Dahl/Teachwire, Harper Collins, Skyr, The Royal Horticultural Society, Deichmann, Creative Nature Superfoods, Odylique, Sleek Hair, and Dr Organic. My marketing work includes promotional banners, posters, flyers, advertorials, magazine covers, packaging artwork, adverts, subs pages and roller stand artwork.
Whether it's logo design, brand identity or creative direction, my skills can help a business to thrive and flourish. I can create memorable visuals that will be the face of a brand's identity, including logos, fonts, colours and more.
I have been involved in many personal design projects over the years, and have designed everything from local band and album artwork, to badges and wedding invitations.
I have extensive experience of retouching and editing images in Photoshop for print work and promotional purposes. I am also skilled in product and studio photography. Much of my styling and photo work has been featured in women's lifestyle magazines Hair and Blackhair. I am proficient in using Broncolor lighting systems, Colorama backdrops and other studio equipment.
Some of my illustration work comes from projects I worked on during my time at Hair and Blackhair magazines, but I also create my own artwork too – from paintings on canvas, to digital sketching and painting using Adobe Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI. My style is influenced by Hayao Miyazaki's art and film work, Shirow Masamune's and Tite Kubo's art – but I like to think I can turn my hand to any kind of illustrative design.
